Infertility Counselling
I specialise in infertility counselling and I am a registered, accredited member of BICA. I have a private practice where I work with a wide range of clients in the U.K. and abroad, supporting them on their fertility journey.
The foundation of my private work has been my five years’ experience of working in a private fertility clinic, the Wessex, Southampton which I left in Spring 21. There I gained the experience of working on a wide range of fertility issues, including the emotional impact of treatment, failed treatment, miscarriage, secondary infertility, egg/sperm/embryo donation and surrogacy.
The fertility journey can be an emotional roller coaster. A sense of loss, frustration, isolation and powerlessness are just some of the difficult feelings that can arise and that can impact how you feel about yourself. Relationships with a partner, friends and family can also be affected.
Fertility issues do not happen in a bubble they take place in the life that you are living and they may trigger complex feelings about previous losses, personal issues and childhood difficulties. These can be attended to in our sessions.
Having a private, confidential place to talk with an independent, trained professional like myself can be supportive at this time. It can help to alleviate stress and anxiety by providing a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings. It can help you to look at things from a different perspective, challenging unhelpful ways of thinking, feeling and behaving and help to develop ways of managing.
During this difficult time counselling can also support relationships and help to improve communication.
